Skin Care Routine

It is completely true that our makeup only ever looks as good as out base which is, of course, the skin. It is vital that we clean our face both morning and night to clean the skin and remove all traces of makeup or toxins that accumulate as you sleep. I think we have all been guilty of going to bed with a full face of makeup without truly realising just how much damage that can do.

First, let me tell you a bit about my skin. i have fairly normal skin, leaning towards the drier side. i don’t get oil on my face at all, and am prone to break outs around my chin once in a while. I also am one of the unfortunate people who suffer from very mild seborrheic dermatitis which means that my skin can get quite flakey and dry, and not because of a lack of moisture. It took me quite some time to find all of these products and I have tried everything from drug store to high end products, but I find that this is the routine that works for me.

Purity Makeup Removal Oil Found in David Jones

I must say, I was slightly concerned about using an oil on my face to remove makeup, but product is absolutely fantastic. It removes every trace of makeup quickly and easily without having to rub at your face. It is also gentle enough to remove eye makeup in one quick easy step! The oil is mineral oil free which is a big plus, and turns a milky white colour when mixed with water which is just the product emulsifying. It is easy to rinse and does not dry the skin which is perfect for me. Again, it can be a bit expensive but I have had this bottle for over a month and have hardly scratched the surface, only a little bit of product is required for each use. I use this to remove my makeup every night.

Purity Face Wash by Philosophy Found in David Jones

I can’t say enough about this face wash, it is a 3 in 1 product that removes makeup, cleanses and also tones the skin. It also gives the face a light moisturise so that the face is not stripped of all natural oils. I purchased this as a recommendation of Jaclyn Hill as she has similar skin as I do (she is absolutely fantastic and I recommend to each and every one of you to check her out!) Even after one use of this product my face felt softer and it is absolutely amazing just how clean this gets your face without making it feel tight. This comes in a variety of sizes, and can be quite pricey so I would suggest trying out a smaller size to make sure that it works for you before splurging on the bigger one! I cleanse my face each night with this as it always makes me feel so refreshed and ready for bed.

Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Pads Clearasil

I found these as a recommendation of Chloe Morello the beauty guru on YouTube. It is brilliant and I can literally feel it working on my skin! They are little round pads soaked in liquid that you just rub all over your face and they work like a charm for getting rid of pimples! These pads contain salicylic acid, which fights pimples, and also combats seborrheic dermatitis which is a huge bonus for me! They are rather cheap, and readily available from shops like Target and Coles, which makes it so easy to get your hands on them. I use these every other morning just to give my face a bit of a deep clean.

Estée Lauder DayWear Moisteriser Estée Lauder

Moisteriser is the most important skin care item that you use! It is vital to help with elasticity, and to keep your skin looking youthful. This is the best moisteriser that I have used as it is not thick enough to clog pores, but it is enough to hydrate my dry skin and make it feel fresh and fantastic! It has a slight cucumber scent (hence the lame cucumbers in my photo!!) and soaks in fast without leaving behind an oily residue. It also contains anti-oxidants to fight any signs of ageing, which I firmly believe we should all start using as we hit our 20s! You can never be too careful.

Estée Lauder Advanced Time Zone Eye Moisteriser Estée Lauder

I got this as a sample size, as you can see in the photo, but I will certainly be purchasing a full size one when I run out! This eye moisteriser is extremely hydrating, and is anti-ageing to prevent the fine lines and smile likes forming around your eyes. It is so luxurious, and I apply this every single night around my eye area and allow it to sink in for around an hour before I go to bed. I have been using this sample for about a month and a half, and am only half way through! A little really does go a long way with this.

Estée Lauder Perfectionist Eye Serum Estée Lauder

This is a wrinkle lifting and firming serum used for specifically around the eye areas. This makes my skin feel like velvet in the mornings! Again it is a sample size that I have been using for the last month and a half and I am nowhere near the end of it! I will definitely be purchasing the full size of this when it runs out. It is brilliant because you are able to layer a serum, and then a moisturiser in order to get the full benefits of both products!

Lush Full of Grace Serum Lush Australia

This is another fantastic product that I found by watching the fabulous Jaclyn Hill. It is a serum bar made out of all sorts of fantastic fresh ingredients such as mushroom and rose oil. It is a solid bar that melts when it comes in contact with the skin and is so beautifully moisturising! It soaks into the skin and does not leave an oily residue at all. The only thing that I don’t like about this product is that it tends to melt if left in a warm area, or on a hot day so It does need to be kept in a container! I use this on my cheeks, forehead and chin every night for a kick of moister. This is something that I recommend you all go and try, it’s fantastic!

Some of these products like the Estée Lauder ones are quite pricey, but I recommend that you try the sample sizes that are often given away as gifts with purchase to try them out before committing to a full size!

What products work for your skin? I would love to try some new things out!

Thanks Lovelies! Xox
