Make your home yours!

I don’t know if it’s getting older, or finally having a home that i am allowed to alter, but i have been loving spending time here working on it and really making it mine! Gardening has been something that i never would have imagined doing. I have been thoroughly enjoying gardening lately, and there is something so satisfying about planting a seed and seeing it become a flower! I also got overly excited when i was able to harvest my first chilli (even though i hate spicy food!).

The biggest piece of advice that i can give to anybody is to make your home yours, and this is how to do it!

  • Take the time to make it personal. Whether if is putting up photos, planting some plants, or buying a new rug for the lounge room, it is so important to make your home yours! These things, thankfully, are all possible with a rental!
  • Don’t be afraid of second-hand furniture. Whether it is a couch, or a set of drawers that you have repurposed, saving money and doing some of the hard yards can be so helpful! I am currently fixing up an old dresser (I will be sure to post about it when it’s all done!).
  • Keep it tidy, your home should be a place that you are proud to bring people. We all have messy days, weeks, and months, but overall keeping things tidy will make you so proud of your home! This is something I constantly have to remind myself to do, but I’ve finally found a system that works!
  • Decorate with the little things, like flowers! Fresh flowers are beautiful, but also expensive. Fake flowers or a potted plant can be an easy way to bring some life into the house without spending too much money!

How have you made your home yours, and are you currently restoring any furniture?
